Toronto is in the midst of a major heat wave right now. Super hot. Super humid.
The ACs are running like crazy. Which was surely the contributing factor to today's 2 hour power outage in my area. No computer, no internet, no TV, no CD player. Too hot to go outside.
For over two whole hours!
It was still light outside. But the first thing I did was got a candle and lighter within easy reach.
Then I painted my nails. Went neutral this time with Zoya's Ellen. Stay tuned for a review.
Then I read a little. I'm in the process or reading The Wedding Girl by Madeline Wickham (a.k.a.: Sophie Kinsella). Like it so far.
And finally, the doggies and I took a nap. Oh so lovely.
And when we woke up it was dark. But luckily the power was back on!
What do you do during a power outage?

You were so cool about it! Something like that makes us realise how dependent we are on electricity etc... I can hardly imagine TWO whole hours with NO internet or music!
Hi, I'm your newest follower from Tuesday Tag-Along :)
I'm anxious to hear what you think of "The Wedding Girl" book. I do love Sophie Kinsella (or Madeleine Wickham in this case)
Have a great Tuesday!

Hi I'm your latest follower from TAT. Can't wait to explore... seems like you might have some interesting post, what with your intense CV in the About Me section ;) ♥ Rachel @ Anya's Room
Last summer, the power went out at least once a week here. Usually I'll read. I have a ton of those battery powered touch lights so they were great to use.
Light candles, use my cell phone, whine about the lack of power. Turn on the light thinking it will go on. Haha. Sorry you had to be without especially when it is hot.
I am happy to use any excuse to delve into what I get least of....sleep :) I power out too!
This heat is awful! I live in London On, just down the road from you! lol
Unfortunately we don't have ac, so have to make do with fans. I think by the end of the week, we will all have melted! Fortunately we haven't had a power outage. Yet! But I'm sure it is coming! In this heat I worry about my poor dogs the most. The poor girls just don't understand.
Nice to 'meet' you, and I hope you visit me too.
I must get that book!
We have power outages in the winter...always at night...we grab some candles and eat dinner around the fireplace. We read stories by the fire light...and I actually go to bed early!
I have an award for you!
This heat is insane! It's supossed to be the hottest day of the summer here, so I'll definitely be parking my butt next to some cool air.

thanks for following me! Love your blog- it's super cute!
When power goes out- that's the time to drink the beer in the fridge for me! :)

I like the candle's photo.
This post is so cute!
And I like to watch movies on the laptop when the power goes out...makes me feel like I'm cheating the system, haha.
And I would totally pick that book up to read the back cover in the book store. :] I am ALWAYS swayed by good covers, despite how terrible of a habit they all say it is. Oh well, LOL. Do post a review when you're done!
Our last power outage, I read a book by flashlight.

Well, you handled it well. I haven't had any outage in so many years! But I wish I had the heat you're having now. It's always cold around here, nor real summer :(
